Vertigo & Dizziness
Are Vertigo & Dizziness the same thing?

Vertigo and Dizziness are NOT the same thing.
In reality, there are major differences, and knowing them can make all the difference, for you and your doctor.

Those who have suffered with true vertigo know its the more debilitating condition, while dizziness can be managed, even at its worst. Interestingly, there's a third type of vestibular condition, one that's more uncommon and confusing, called otolithic dysfunction.

Proper diagnosis, treatment, and management are crucial for those who are suffering from any one, or combination, of these conditions. At Keystone Chiropractic, we tend to see patients who have already been treated by their neurologist(s), physical therapist(s), and even vestibular therapist(s). At this point, patients are tired, frustrated, and at their last wit, still hoping for an answer.

In many cases, our upper cervical chiropractic approach has been effective in either resolving or reducing vestibular dysfunction.

In addition to our upper cervical chiropractic approach, Keystone Chiropractic also incorporates principles and training from a Clinical Neuroscience perspective.

What is Clinical Neuroscience?

Clinical Neuroscience, also known as Functional Neurology, uses non-invasive, neurologically-based rehabilitation strategies to activate specific areas of the brain, brain stem, and nervous system.
While it was previously thought that an adult brain could not change, research has proven that this is very much in fact incorrect! Using the principles of Neuroplasticity, the correct treatment(s) and approach can activate the brain to form and reorganize synaptic connections, or the brain's "wiring system."
Activation can influence what are known as neurotransmitter systems, and not only promote NEW connections within the brain and spinal cord, but also lead to the creation of NEW neurons and blood vessels.

At Keystone Chiropractic, we combine Functional Neurology with Upper Cervical Chiropractic, providing patients the most comprehensive approach.
What does an Upper Cervical evaluation look like?

Instead of a conventional "One Size Fits All" approach, your Upper Cervical solution
is customized from many factors, such as your Health History,
3-D CT Scan, Complete NeuroStructural Examination, and
any risk factors that your condition might create. Our evaluation process is highlighted below.
3-D CBCT Scan
State-of-the-art 3-D CBCT imaging allows us to view the overall structural integrity of your upper neck. Viewing your unique structure in 3-D is necessary for calculating a specific Atlas Correction. This novel imaging is crucial for determining how much structural improvement is achievable.

NeuroStructural Examination
The initial Examination includes objective testing in the form of Static Postural Distortion Analysis, Dynamic Posturography Assessment, NeuroThermal Diagnostic Scanning, Proprioceptive, Visual, and Vestibular Testing, as well as an Expanded Neurological Exam.
Other testing will be performed if indicated.

Corrective Office Appointments
Regular office visits are a flat fee-for-result and combine multiple modalities; Functional Neurology Exercises, Neuromuscular Re-education, Global Adjusting via Instrument and Drop Table methods, and Corrective Atlas adjusting.
Other tools are used when needed.
